Hey dood welcome to the blog! This weeks topic is choosing joy.
As a photographer my whole job is to capture joy, but how do we choose joy daily? One way is to remember the good times. Marinela Rika says "memories are antiques, the older they are the more valuable they become". Remembering how good life can be gives hope for the future to be better than it is now. As a christian I know that better is coming. One day I will be free from fear, pain, and anger. All I will feel is awe, wonder, and joy. That is a truth that I hold on to. What truths can you hold on to? This too shall pass, after every storm theres a rainbow, this is but a season, I have worth in this season, things will get better, etc. Those are all little saying that you can hold on to that will help you choose joy. My favorite way to choose joy is to pick a bible verse that is centered on the glory of God. Right now I'm repeating Psalm 43 verses three and four to my self.
"Send me Your light and Your truth; lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, to your
dwelling place. Then I will come to the alter of God, to God my greatest joy. I will praise You with the
lyre, God, my God...Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, My savior and my God."
In this very short psalm the psalmist describes his deep depression. He asks God "why have you rejected me" but ends with "I will still praise him". No matter what we are going though we can hold onto hope that God is always with us. A friend of mine pointed out that God is our companion. She then said that a companion is someone who goes on a journey with another person. The Lord is on this journey with you. You can have joy because the God of creation is on this journey with you. He desires closeness with you.
Recap:
Remember the good time and hold to those joys
Repeat a bible verse or encouraging saying
Let God be your companion
I hope that these three little tips help you to choose joy. I will do more blogs on joy on how to choose joy with more practical tips.
With Peace and Love,
